Dietician

Dietitians are experts on how food and nutrition apply to health. They are involved wherever nutrition can help to improve quality of life. Registered Dietitians (RDs) have completed an intensive study of all aspects of nutrition and health. They plan nutrition programs to help both sick and healthy people who need to improve their nutrition. The responsibilities of Registered Dietitians vary according to their specialty. Clinical dietitians work as part of a health care team in hospitals or other health care institutions. Dietitians develop the most nutritious food plans possible for patients who can eat traditional foods; for patients who cannot tolerate traditional foods, they provide other diets. They supervise dietary personnel, plan institutional menus, manage budgets, and educate people about good nutrition. Dieticians may work with individuals whoare most at risk of poor health including pregnant women, children, and elderly citizens with very limited resources.
